2014 Chicago Gospel Fest at Cultural Center and Ellis Park June 27-29

Come out Chicago-ans, vacationers and newbies to the greatest city in the world, Chicago.  Celebrate the gift of music to soothe the angst on the inside of you.  Celebrate the gift of Jazz, Blues and Christian Praise rolled into a style called Gospel music.  There is no end to the creativity of gospel music with the infusion of very different forms of exciting music styles that stirs the soul.

The stirring begins Friday afternoon June 27 from 11am – 4pm at Chicago Cultural Center, Preston Bradley Hall, 78 E. Washington St.

Then just like the river keeps on rolling so does the music on Saturday and Sunday at Ellis Park,

The festival moves to Ellis Park in Bronzeville for two full days of Gospel celebration. Festival opens at 11am both days.
2014 festival headliners include: (Saturday) McDonald’s INSPIRATION CELBRATION GOSPEL TOUR featuring Erica Campbell, Kurt Carr, Mississippi Mass Choir, Anthony Brown & Group TherAPy, Uncle Reece, Moses Tyson, Jr. and comedian Jonathan Slocumb and (Sunday) Karen Clark Sheard, VaShawn Mitchell, Tasha Cobbs and Tye Tribbett.
A historic trolley tour of Bronzeville (Saturday only). This narrated 60-minute tour highlights the rich history of this south side community and its role in the birth of Gospel Music – through Ebenezer Baptist Church, First Church of Deliverance and Pilgrim Baptist, plus information on the Great Migration, “Black Belt” and the community’s connection to the Civil War and Civil Rights movement.
A Health and Wellness Oasis features on-site health resources, screenings and tests.
A marketplace, family-friendly programming in the kids’ activity area, food vendors and food trucks, and interactive sponsor displays complete the event.
